Bran Castle

Spend an adrenaline filled day in one of the best known castles in Romania, Bran Castle, particularly popular amongst tourists because of the legend associated with Bram Stoker‘s famous "Dracula" novel. Vlad Tepes, known especially for the cruel punishments he imposed on his enemies, was the inspiration for the name of the vampire in the novel.

Originally a fortress built by the Knights of the Teutonic Order in the year 1212, Bran Castle now displays art and furniture collected by Queen Maria and it is the place where the architectural imaginative view of Queen Maria has fully manifested.

Customs House

The Customs House is an architectural complex made up of several buildings: a central pavilion having a partial basement, ground floor and one floor and three annexes united by stone and brick walls. Being restored in 2009, the building is now fully accessible to the public.

Village Museum

Organized over more than four decades ago in the park next to the castle, the Village Museum portraits the evolution of the traditional folk architecture in the villages from the Bran area. Conceived as an open air museum, it presents the main types of farmsteads and households, homestead annexes, economical buildings and folk techniques.

Queen Maria’s Crypt

According to the Queen’s wishes, after her death in 1938, her heart was placed in a stone crypt near the castle's church. Although the church no longer stands, Queen Maria's crypt remains a popular attraction among castle visitors.
